House on the hill

We finally arrived at the house on the the hill near Harrisonburg.  This is the house where Grandmother Heatwole lived with Uncle Eldwin and Aunt Vera Rose.  Steve and Kathy Rhodes are now in the house and love being here.  While there are always projects, Steve likes to call it the house with the 350 degree view.

Good times catching up with Steve and Kathy.  They also invited several of the cousins (and Aunt Ida) over last night, and that was very fun as well.

Kerri in Virginia

While browsing facebook, we found that Kerri was also in the DC area.  We were able to hook up with her for dinner and had a delightful time around the table.  She is in the area for her work, but makes her home in Billings, Montana.  Sometimes, you just have to go across the country to see friends.

A Day in DC

We turned into tourists for a day in DC.  We walked around the monuments and visited the Smithsonian...at least the American History and Air and Space Museums.  We tried for the Art Museum, but literally ran out of time, not to mention the Art Museum closed 30 minutes before everything else.

Greencastle, PA - Uncle Robert and Aunt Twila

Greencastle is very close to Gettysburg, so it was a quick drive to get to Uncle Robert and Aunt Twila's new place in Greencastle.
Dennis and Naomi joined us for the evening.
Aunt Twila prepared an amazing dinner.  We caught up around the table and then spent the rest of the evening talking and going through picture albums in the living room.  Good conversation and encouraging discussions.

We were privileged to attend church with Uncle Robert and Aunt Twila this morning.  Then, off to the Washington DC area.

Gettysburg

We only had time to drop by the visitors center and driver through town.  However, the battlefield film, cyclorama, and museum were quite good.  And, of course we got a selfie with Abe!

Amish auction

We spent the night in Ronks and then took a ride through Amish country.  We stumbled across an Amish auction and decided to crash the party.  They were auctioning off building materials, garden plants, buggies, quilts and antiques.  Yvonne and I decided to go to the quilt part of the auction and we actually ended up bidding on a couple of quilts...and we got one of them.  The morning was delightful and we were able to experience a real part of Amish life.

Deleware to Pennsylvania

Good bye Mark and Polly!
We had a great time with the Blossers on Morwood Road.  Jim and Janet were good friends with Yvonne's folks.  Brenda was a good friend of Yvonne.  It was fun catching up with these folks.  We even called Yvonne's parents while sitting in the Blosser's living room.  Good times.
Kent, we took a few pictures of your old homestead on Ridge Road.  They have really built on to the house.  Hopefully, this brings back a few good memories.
