Great first day of travel. We arrived in Coeur D'Alene shortly after 3PM and settled into a nice little dumpy hotel. We were able to contact Jeremy's grandfather (Norm) and had a wonderful dinner at his favorite restaurant...Elmer's Pancake House! Norm is never at a loss for words, and after Norm bugged the waitress for awhile, he told us his life story over dinner. It was truly a fascinating conversation, but it lasted long enough that the sun started going down, and we had not even seen the Lake yet! Norm became a tour guide, levering his past experience as a taxi driver, and drove us up Potlatch Hill to see a spectacular view of Coeur D'Alene Lake, nestled in hills around Coeur D'Alene. As it was dusk on the way up the hill, we saw several deer, one of which was a young buck. During the drive, we found out what it is like for Norm to be widower in a church with several widows. When you see Norm, you will have to ask him about his "shopping" adventures. We loved our time with Norm and he sends hugs to Jeremy, Jodie, and the boys.
