Deep in the hills of West Virginia, we arrived at Uncle Nelson's house. When we came in the door, he was prepared with written stories, pictures and the family book with our family tree. His favorite part of the house is the wall where his family pictures are proudly and prominently displayed. Uncle Nelson told story after story about his family and even got emotional at times. He certainly loves his family and if you haven't had a chance to visit Uncle Nelson, I would highly recommend it.
As we were leaving, Uncle Nelson suggested we drive about 1/2 mile down the road to see an old Mennonite church that recently celebrated a 100 year anniversary.
As we drove back past Uncle Nelson's house, we expected to wave goodbye to him from the car as it was pouring down rain. As we turned the corner, this is what we saw...
Uncle Nelson was waiting for us with more family stuff in a manila envelope. This gave us one more chance to see Uncle Nelson. This was the first time I had met Uncle Nelson, and I love this man.
Next stop, Sheldon's place.
